Hate Speech: Understanding the phenomenon from different perspectives

In time of crisis, ‘the fear of the Other’ becomes again a common part of public debate.

According to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), hate speech is increasing year on year since 2017, but still, there is a high lack of reporting of the issue due to the problems of defining it in a clear way that allows victims and relevant actors to identify and take action against it.

With the objective of bringing clarity to this problem, the EPIC project hosted its first of a series of webinar on migration narratives last Tuesday, 28th of April.

While all the panellists highlighted there is no magic formula to solve the problem at once, they showed that an action plan involving a comprehensive multi-stakeholder approach can have a big impact in tackling this issue.
