Change the Narrative!

Published on 12/02/2021

Within the framework of the AMIF funded project MAX (Maximising Migrants Contribution to Society), The Local has offered training on a solution-focused approach to migration reporting for over 100 journalists based in 20 countries across Europe

Behind every migration there is a singular experience, a personal story with its struggles and successes. Because the media often neglects the diversity of migration realities, the ‘Change the narrative’ story series makes migration experiences more visible and investigates solutions to issues faced by migrant communities across Europe.

Throughout 2020, The Local delivered free training to experienced journalists, students, and early journalists in online and live sessions. It covered best practices for reporting on migration, a step-by-step guide for finding and writing a solutions-focused story, and a discussion on making reporting as inclusive as possible.

Since January this year and over the next weeks, the articles written by the participants are being published. We invite you to discover more about this project, hoping that these articles will provide you with new perspectives on the topic of migration.
