On the 28th of September, the European Platform for Integrating Cities (EPIC) and many stakeholders working on social integration will gather in Amadora (Portugal) for its International Networking Path.
Over the last few years, local authorities and NGOs around Europe have been working to address the unexpected challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic, the crisis in Afghanistan or the war in Ukraine has brought to societies in general, and to those in the most vulnerable situation in particular. When working under such pressure, it is essential to build on the lessons learned from previous crises as well as not forgetting that a Human-right approach is still needed in the design and implementation of policies even under exceptional circumstances.
The event will focus on how to pass from humanitarian crises to a structural approach of reception and integration of migrants and participants will have the opportunity to listen and interact with policy makers from local to international level, such as the Major of Amadora or IOM, and NGOs and CSO representatives from different European countries working to make integration services for newcomers more accessible and resilient.
It will last from 9AM until 5PM (Lisbon/London time) – 10AM – 6PM (Brussels, Madrid, Paris time) and will include public speakings, roundtables and debates with academics, activists and political actors.
