#

The European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the promotion of good governance and citizen participation at the local level.  ALDA was established in 1999 at the initiative of the Council of Europe to coordinate and support a network of Local Democracy Agencies promoting good governance and local self-government in the Neighbourhood areas. Today ALDA gathers more than 300 members (associations of local authorities and civil society organisations) coming from more than 40 countries. With a long and intense experience in activities that facilitate cooperation between local authorities and civil society, ALDA is working as coordinator as well as partner in several projects concerning migration’s phenomenon; in addition to that, ALDA’s work focuses on various themes, such as European integration, decentralisation, civic initiatives and volunteering, environment, human rights and sustainable economic development.
