The Municipality of Ioannina (MoI) is the capital and largest city of Epirus, an administrative region in north-western Greece. The Municipality constitutes the traditional dynamic urban centre of the Region of Epirus and the main urban centre of Western Greece with a population of approximately 112.486 inhabitants, for this reason is one of the 10 largest municipalities, in terms of inhabitants, in Greece. The MoI, stuffed by more than 500 employees and 10 Directorates, constitutes an ongoing evolution as a contemporary European city by designing and implementing projects under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF). MoI manages public services and infrastructure with funds by the Epirus Regional Program and other National Operational Programs. In addition, it capitalises on funds from the ESF and the ERDF. MoI has participated in many EU funded projects especially in the EU Territorial Cooperation Greece-Albania and Greece-Italy (INTERREG) and is actively involved in European Horizon Programs.
